JC Legal is a boutique, women-led law firm in Hong Kong with a quiet but distinctive point of view: cross-border careers are built by women who navigate cultures, languages, and self-doubt long before they ever sit in the corner office. Janice and her team wanted to host an intimate evening that brought that belief to life โ€” not as a marketing message, but as a felt experience. The brief was simple to say and harder to do: gather 80 of the right people in one room, give them a real conversation worth their time, and have everyone walk out feeling closer to JC Legal without ever being sold to. DesignBFF was brought in to take this from a one-line idea to a fully produced evening, end-to-end. From concept and curation to copy, design, run-of-show, sponsor management, and on-the-night production.

Our approach

We treated the event the same way we treat a brand identity project: the room is the medium, every detail is a brand asset, and the strongest marketing is the kind no one calls marketing. We started with the core belief โ€” JC Legal stands for women leading cross-border careers โ€” and worked backwards. Who needs to be in the room for that belief to feel true? What does the panel need to sound like for guests to leave thinking differently? Where does the brand live in the small moments โ€” the welcome, the goodie bag, the way the team introduces themselves? The work spanned five workstreams, all run in parallel by a single consultant: Concept & narrative. Defined the event thesis (Leading with Cultural Fluency), shaped the panel arc, and wrote the speaker briefs, moderator note cards, and welcome remarks for the Founding Partner. Audience curation. Built the guest list of 83 across paid Eventbrite, sponsor invites, panellist guests, and the JC Legal team's own circle. Managed RSVPs, payment reconciliations, and walk-in handling end-to-end. Design & content production. Speaker briefing pack, run-of-show deck, internal team briefing deck, LinkedIn speaker spotlight series, post-event recap copy, photographer brief, and IG-ready 16:9 video direction. Sponsor partnerships. Curated five sponsors aligned to the women-leadership thesis (JC Corporate, KYT, Make The Right Call, FAME UNION, Learning Bridge) and managed activation across goodie bags, on-stage thank-yous, and printed collateral. Production & venue. Soho House booking, F&B negotiation, floor plan, AV setup, time-keeping cue cards, 80 assembled goodie bags, and team logistics from 5 PM call time to 9 PM bump-out.
